I started reading this weeks ago, because I really wanted to see if she had any other absolute bangers of a recipe. Her Slow Cooker Chicken Tikka Masala has become a weekly staple in our house of picky eaters. Though my 3 year old is now pushing back on it. I was flicking through a different slow cooker book this afternoon and my hubby asked if I was reading the Poppy book (he was actually the one to find the Chicken Tikka Masala recipe originally), and that reminded me that I still had half a book to read through (normally I finish cook books in one sitting but I had to stop due to the 3 year old and never got a chance to finish).
So I finished this other slow cooker book, and I wasn’t very impressed. So I opened Poppy’s book again and immediately found myself chuckling at her banter, and several recipes that I wanted to see if I could get the picky eater kiddos to eat.
We’ve done two of the recipes from this already, before we even had the book thanks to her TikTok, and like I said the Chicken Tikka Masala is a weekly staple right now (and I do believe my 8 year old’s favourite food currently). We tried the Marry Me Chicken, and it was good… not amazing by my standards, but it was quite good. I think I just don’t like sun-dried tomatoes and so that really colours it all for me. (No, I didn’t make the dish. My husband did, otherwise I would have left out the sun-dried tomatoes lol)
I usually am happy if I find at least 2 recipes in a cookbook that I want to try. I book marked 10, and that isn't counting the 2 we've already tried! I would say that Poppy knocked it out of the park with this book.
My mum and I love poppy anyway (she’s fab!) so she brought us both a copy of her book, and I’ve cooked so many recipes so far!
My fave so far is Marry Me Chicken also a super easy Sausage casserole! It’s a super great cookbook for people with fast paced lives who still want good home cooked meals. Honestly I’m quite lazy and do most of my shopping in Aldi, so can usually buy most of the ingredients from there and most of the recipes are accommodating for that, and usually at a cheap price!
Will be working my way through the book over winter, thanks Poppy, keep being you sis!
