This is the new sequel to How the Grinch stole Christmas. I give my grand babies a Thanksgiving gift every year loaded with Christmas themed stuff to enjoy during the holiday season. This year they will be getting this as a part of that gift. I preordered it and upon receiving it , I was curious. I wanted to read it and today was the day I finally did. I LOVED IT! It was written in Dr. Seuss rhyming fashion and had all the holiday feels…. The Grinch now loves Christmas and plans to win the Who-ville Christmas tree decorating contest. When he gets second place, he’s angry and begins to lose his spirit until something happens that makes his heart grow even more than it did before. ❤️❤️❤️ I can’t wait to share this with my little loves.
I normally would not rate a children’s book, as I am not a child and I am not counting it toward my Goodreads reading goal. However, I must make an exception here.
Heim so perfectly captures Dr. Seuss’s spirit in this new story that I would be hard pressed to decide which man it was written by if I didn’t already know. It is adorable, heartwarming, and embodies what the first Grinch story gave us without being repetitive. No matter your age, if you love the Grinch, you are going to want to read this story!
It was amazing that 66 years later a sequel to “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” was released. I love this sequel the author and illustrator did a great job honoring the original book! I enjoyed exploring more of Whoville in this sequel ✨🎄
Grabbed this at Target today and really enjoyed it. I read the original Grinch book again first before reading this in order to compare the two. The original is still better, yet Alastair Heim has perfectly captured the spirit of Dr. Seuss’s prose and the essence of these characters. Grinch still feels like Grinch and in my head I could hear the voice of Boris Karloff narrating. Highly recommend.
I thought this was a very good book....I love Dr. Seuss and his books and was mildly alarmed when I saw someone was writing a sequel to How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
I think Alastair Heim which also rhymes with rhyme did a phenomenal job. The rhymes were good and fun, the kind that give you joy to read out loud!
The illustrator also did a great job, if I didn't know better I would say it was like Dr. Seuss was still here with us.
Loved it! You might think Dr. Seuss wrote it himself. The story is spot on and fits the Grinch perfectly. The illustrations are colorful and very exact to the originals. Can't wait to enjoy it with my grandkids.
This was actually really good! I thought the rhyming was great and the illustrations were on point. It included all the important characters and was a lot like the first book in a good way.
This is a sequel to a childhood favorite of mine (How the Grinch Stole Christmas). I noticed it at our library while shelving, and thought I'd check it out and read it before our Christmas books get in high demand. Though nothing beats the original, this was still a cute story.
I was honestly, genuinely surprised at how high-quality and engaging this sequel to one of the most famous Christmas books is. It's not a cheapo cash-in or too-slick update. Rather, the illustrations, text, and entire feel of the book capture the spirit of Seuss.
