----------------- OK, now that I've sat on this read for a month I have to give credit where it is due. This book fracked me up.
The focus on bi-cameral humans and then especially the notes at the end on how the brain has two distinct personalities in the two hemispheres has really changed my entire worldview. Humans make so much more sense to me now.

1. I learned how close we are psychologically, emotionally, verbally, and mentally to chimps 2. I learned to view animals in a much more connected way. I mean that I feel closer to all animals. 3. I saw again how susceptible humans are to holocaust/slavery type thinking. 4. This booked messed with my head. I will never be the same. I will forever after think of chimps as thinking/feeling/talking hominids. And I will be more sensitive to the feelings and well-being of all other animals. 5. I learned how speaking with the mouth/tongue evolved. 6. I learned how linked movement is with the ability to speak. 7. I learned about my own speech impediments.
I am really glad for Goodreads. Goodreads suggested this book and I had never noticed it before. And I really missed out up till now....more

It is instructive to watch him go from seemingly minor manipulations to absolute pure evil anti-leader behaviors. It makes you think about when you see minor manipulations in the workplace. What can acceptance of those small things lead to? Do you behave with minor lies and manipulations? Why? What do you really want? Great section on the Korean war....more

At first I thought I didn't like this book. Then I couldn't stop thinking about it. Then I watched the movie and then I REALLY couldn't stop thinking about it. I am still creeped out whenever I think about it. There is one scene in the movie that is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen. A great book....more
